MOM I’M FINE’s mission is to create a community with a daring and caring mindset. The MOM I’M FINE PROJECT is the tangible representation of that mission.
Our aim is to empower children coming from vulnerable socio-economic backgrounds by building schools made out of recycled plastic. There could be two types of schools. While some might be ‘official schools’ and focus on learning; the other ones could focus on arts, sports, environmental consciousness and well-being. The construction of these schools have to meet high-quality and environmental standards. All of them will be built with recycled plastic.
DARING AND CARING
ENVIRONMENTALLY CONSCIOUS TRANSPARENCY
Tulum is currently suffering from a serious plastic issue due to high tourist traffic and lack of efficiency in garbage collection. This issue creates a problem for the environment and affects the development of the community in the area. Unfortunately, this is a national issue as Mexico generates half a million tons of plastic waste that ends up in the sea.
More than 2.5 million tourists visit the city of Tulum every year. The project is expected to support tourism by reducing the areas filled with plastic waste. This will give tourists the possibility to enjoy the city and encourage them to give back by helping collect the plastic.
Indigenous communities are losing part of their lands and becoming neglected by the society. The aim is, therefore, to create a space for children from the communities where the activities will be free of charge.
